This month, we met with Elaine, the owner of Gecko Homes and Gardens! While the name might suggest geckos, the focus is on creating enriching, sustainable environments for a variety of pets. With over 20 years of experience in the veterinary field and a passion for ethical pet care, Elaine's goal is to educate and provide high-quality products that contribute to the health and happiness of reptiles and invertebrates. Her area of focus is reptiles and invertebrates, creatures that often go overlooked in the pet community.
Ethical Pet Keeping
At Gecko Homes and Gardens, ethical pet keeping is a priority. Elaine offers a variety of captive-bred animals, including over 60 species of isopods, millipedes, springtails, mourning geckos, and Eurodactylodes. By maintaining a small-scale operation, she ensures that each animal receives the individualized care and attention it deserves.
Custom Bioactive Terrariums and Unique Decor
Elaine specializes in creating custom nano and lantern-style bioactive terrariums that mimic natural habitats for reptiles and invertebrates. These beautiful, functional setups promote a thriving ecosystem for pets. She also offers handmade art, magnets, and terrarium decor, which are perfect for reptile and invertebrate enthusiasts.
Proprietary Invertebrate Food
Elaine has developed her own line of invertebrate food, designed to provide optimal nutrition for pet invertebrates. This proprietary food helps support the health and longevity of the animals under her care.
