Three Monkeys is a built on connection, education, and a deep love for animals. Founded in 2012 by Robert Williams, it began as a personal passion and has grown into a beloved part of countless events, celebrations, and charitable initiatives across Texas. Through interactive photo booths featuring capuchin monkeys, they offer a memorable experience that’s both fun and educational.
From Personal Passion to Public Joy
The spark for Three Monkeys began long before the first photo booth was set up. Robert started working with primates and exotic birds as a teenager. This experience planted the seeds of what would later become a full-fledged business. At the time Three Monkeys officially launched, Robert was working as a college professor at University of Houston–Downtown. It was during that chapter that he welcomed Sasha, his first capuchin monkey, into his life.
Capuchins are highly intelligent, social animals that thrive on interaction, and Robert was determined to meet Sasha’s needs in the most enriching and meaningful way. That led to the idea of interactive photo booths, where Sasha (and eventually Cody, Lola, and Merlin) could engage with people in positive, educational, and supervised settings.
The demand came quickly. What began as occasional event appearances quickly grew into a full-time endeavor as word spread and requests poured in. People weren’t just drawn to the novelty, they were touched by the experience.
A Mission of Education and Enrichment
At its heart, Three Monkeys is about connection between humans and animals. Every event, whether a birthday, corporate function, or festival, becomes an opportunity for guests to meet and learn about these remarkable animals firsthand. Visitors leave not only with a priceless photo, but with a greater understanding and appreciation for primates and the responsibility that comes with working with exotic animals.
Robert and his team are committed to providing proper enrichment for the monkeys and use these interactions to educate the public about animal behavior, care, and conservation in a safe, ethical, and respectful environment.
Community Impact and Recognition
Beyond private events, Three Monkeys has left a meaningful mark through its charitable work. The team regularly collaborates with various organizations, offering their unique experience to support charity fundraisers, community events, and public outreach programs.
One of the highlights of their journey has been receiving a Humanitarian Award from the Houston Police Department, recognizing their contributions to relational policing efforts and community engagement. It’s a powerful testament to how investing in your passions can make a real difference in the community.
Looking Ahead
With Sasha, Cody, Lola, and Merlin at the heart of it all, Three Monkeys continues to bring joy, wonder, and learning to people of all ages. For Robert, it’s more than a business, it’s a mission to share the magic of animals. You can find Three Monkeys at our upcoming Nashville Show on September 6th - 7th.
