Show Me Reptiles & Exotics Educational Mission

Tamara Meyers, one of the owners of Show Me Snakes, joined Local News 4 WHBF to shed some insight on her Show Me Reptiles & Exotics Show. Tamara has been interested in reptiles since she was a kid, where she would go outside and play with them in her spare time. Wanting to come up with a safer alternative for those curious minds, she had the idea of creating an event that allowed people to safely explore reptiles while learning about how important their conservation is. Educating the community and having people around her who share her passion is one of the most rewarding things for Tamara.

As a sneak peak into what guests can expect to see at the Show Me Reptiles & Exotics Show, Tamara brought with her a baby Sulcata Tortoise, which originates from Africa and actually has a beak, not teeth! A Blue Tongue Skink named Spukny from Australia also joined the ladies for their interview. Spunky enjoys eating bugs and can hiss when uncomfortable. Finally, one of the most common reptiles in the industry, a baby Ball Python. They are docile creatures that enjoy eating rats.

If any of the above animals sound like an enjoyable pet to have, come visit them at the show. Different animals will be available for adoption, along with lots of great information on how to properly care for these pets and give them the great life they deserve. General admission for the show is $6 and is from 10AM - 3:30PM. VIP admission starts at 9AM and is $12. Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 7th at the Davenport Golden Leaf Banquet Center.
