Our vendor of the month is Chris McDougle with Snakenstein Reptiles! They are based in Odessa, TX and specialize in breeding ball pythons, feeder rodents, custom rodent racks, and they are a Reptichip Representative in west Texas. Chris has over 25 years of reptile experience as this has been a long running passion for him.
A Long Running Passion Project
Chris started keeping geckos in the 90s until he was able to convince his parents to allow him to get his first snake, a retired breeder eastern kingsnake. His parents quickly changed their stance on snakes, realizing that they can be beautiful and docile creatures. In 1998, when Chris was working at a local pet shop, he got his first ball python. She was imported and is still a part of Chris' family today. This ball python is what truly ignited Chris’ passion for snakes. With their perfect size and calm disposition, it is no wonder they are a staple in the reptile community.
Cultivating Excitement
In 2017, after learning many valuable lessons about running a reptile business, Chris was able to become a successful breeder. Since then he has focused on cultivating excitement in the next generation of reptile owners. Snakestein Reptiles does this by breeding beautiful and healthy animals to share with the community. He continues to push the envelope and works to continually improve his animal husbandry and business.
