In anticipation of the Virginia Beach Show Me Reptile show this weekend, our vendor spotlight is Gecko Overload! This hobby turned family business specializes in breeding geckos, specifically Crested and Gargoyle. Their business has greatly expanded over the past 7 years.
Humble Beginnings
Gecko Overload started out in the family's 2 bedroom townhome in South Carolina. They settled on breeding Crested Geckos since they would do well in the space they had at the time. Over the years, they went from owning 100 to 800 reptiles. They are now breeding most New Caledonia Geckos and are in the process of building a facility dedicated to their animal care.
The Business Takes Off
Vending about 80 shows a year, they can be found all over the US from Texas to Maryland. Their next show is going to be this weekend at the Virginia Beach Show Me Reptile Show on August 5th and 6th. If you’re too far away to make it to their next show, you can always check out their online shop. Not only do they have a successful reptile business, but they are expanding even further into the 3D printing world. Their business Printed Playthings creates 3D printed animal toys and even gecko accessories! From supplying the animal, care sheets, and accessories, it seems like Gecko Overload has it all. Educating their children and their customers about proper animal care is one of the businesses passions.
